Former Minden standout Randy Carlisle picked up his 1,000 victory as a coach Monday night.
Carlisle’s Pleasant Hill Eagles defeated Providence Classical Academy 87-34 in their season opener Monday night at home.
Per a post on the Pleasant Hill High School Facebook page, Carlisle is now 1,000-261.
Carlisle is the son of legendary coach “Buster” Carlisle and uncle of current Minden boys head coach Jacob Brown.
Randy Carlisle has directed teams to 10 state championships, including seven in basketball, with 11 of his squads advancing to a state title game.
He coached for 17 years in Texas before returning to Louisiana. He has had coaching stints at Castor, Hosanna Christian Academy in Baton Rouge, Summerfield, Anacoco and Simsboro.
A graduate of East Texas Baptist, Carlisle played for his father at Minden from played at Minden from 1972-75. He led the Crimson Tide to the state semifinals in 1975.
Carlisle is beginning his third season as head coach at Pleasant Hill. The Eagles were the runners-up in Class C last season.
