Minden Makers Fair draws big crowds, celebrates community support

by Amber McDown

The annual Minden Makers Fair was a major success this year, drawing large crowds to The Farm of Cultural Crossroads for a day filled with art, music, and community spirit.

Hosted by Cultural Crossroads, the event featured more than 50 artisans, bakers, and makers from across the region, along with live demonstrations in pottery, glass blowing, and blacksmithing. Families enjoyed shopping, entertainment, and hands-on art experiences throughout the day.

Elaine Eaton, president of Cultural Crossroads and event chair for the Minden Makers Fair, expressed her appreciation for the many volunteers and participants who made the event possible.

“I would like to thank our amazing volunteers who make the day of the event run smoothly from set up to shut down. Minden Maker’s Fair isn’t possible without their hard work,” Eaton said. “We are so grateful for our talented artisans bringing their baked goods and wares to our small town delivering a magical day to our community.”

Cultural Crossroads partnered with LSU AgCenter Webster, Webster Parish Libraries, and Webster Ready Start to offer additional activities and resources during the fair.

Organizers also extended gratitude to the event’s sponsors, including Bonvenu Bank, Catherine C. Hunt Realtor, Minden Coca-Cola, b1 BANK, Interstate Building Supply, Ace Hardware of Minden, Denise Edwards (Webster Parish Tax Assessor), Dixie Overland, GBT, Geaux Fresh, and Minden Family Dental.

Cultural Crossroads is a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the arts and community engagement in Webster Parish. Eaton said volunteers are essential to keeping events like the Makers Fair thriving.

“Our volunteers are the backbone of every event we host,” she said. “We always welcome new people to join us so we can continue to grow and bring more arts experiences to Minden.”
