High school boys basketball: Minden falls by two in regular-season finale

The Minden Crimson Tide fell to the  Woodlawn Knights 60-58 in their regular-season finale Tuesday night at Minden.

The Tide finished the regular season 14-8 overall. They were 4-3 in District 1-4A. Bossier, Huntington and Evangel Christian finished tied for first at 5-2.

Tuesday’s game was Minden’s third in the last four decided by two points or less.

Woodlawn scored on a follow underneath the basket with 23 seconds left to tie the game at 58.

There were several scrambles for the ball before that. Minden had possession at one point but the Knights made a steal in the backcourt.

The Tide missed a jumper in the lane with about 10 seconds left. The Knights got the rebound but the Tide forced a tie ball.

Minden missed a 3-pointer from the baseline.

After the Knights missed two free throws, the Tide missed a desperation shot from a few feet past the half-court line near the Minden bench.

The Tide got off to a great start and led 17-6 after the first quarter. The Knights cut the lead to 25-19 at the half.

Minden led 41-37 going into the fourth.

Cameron Parker and Carmelo Smith led the Tide with 12 points each.

Darnell Morris scored 10. Kameron Harris and Maurice Rabb had eight each.

According to GeauxPreps.com, Minden is No. 14 in the non-select Division II power ratings.

First-round playoff pairings will be announced Monday. If Minden is No. 16 or higher, it will be at home in the first round.
