High school softball: Minden wins first game at new field; Doyline wins opener

The Minden Lady Tiders’ first game on their new field was a successful one.

The Lady Tiders defeated Parkway 10-4 in their season opener Tuesday.

Doyline was the only other Webster Parish team to open with a victory.

The Lady Panthers defeated Red River 16-0 at Doyline.

Elsewhere, Lakeside fell to Captain Shreve 9-8 at Shreve, North Webster lost to Evangel Christian 11-1 at Evangel and Glenbrook dropped a 12-0 decision to St. Mary’s at Glenbrook.

At Minden, the Lady Tiders started fast. After giving up a run in the top of the first, they scored four in the bottom of the inning.

Minden added a run in the fifth. Parkway rallied with three runs in the top of the sixth to get within one. 

But the Lady Tiders answered with five in the bottom of the inning.

Kylie Ryan pitched a four-hitter. She struck out nine and walked three.

Eight Minden players had hits. Leigha Kennon-Gilbert went 2-for-3.

Jacey Adams led off the bottom of the sixth with a home run, the first official one in the new park.

After Sky Savage singled, Annabelle Toland doubled to put the Lady Tiders up 7-4. Kennon-Gilbert singled and Lindsay Ryan drew a walk.

Tatum Oliver’s sacrifice fly made it 8-4. Kylie Ryan then smacked a two-RBI double.

Lindsay Ryan had a hit and walked twice. Kaydree Kemp had a single and an RBI. Oliver had a hit and two RBI.

Minden will be at home again Thursday against North Caddo.

At Doyline, the game went three innings.

Karmadie Bartlett went 3-for-3 with two RBI. Savannah Stanley had two doubles and four RBI.

Lanie Gates went 2-for-2 with a double. Raelynn Pease went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Stanley allowed one hit and struck out seven.

Doyline hosts Mansfield Friday.

At Captain Shreve, Lakeside took an 8-5 lead with three runs in the top of the seventh. But Shreve scored four in the bottom of the inning to win it. The last two came with two outs.

The Lady Warriors had six hits.

Raleah Harris went 2-for-3. Hallie Sutton hit a three-run home run in the top of the first. Lexi Wood had two RBI.

Sutton went five innings and allowed four earned runs. She allowed three hits, walked seven and struck out seven.

Lakeside hosts Stanley Thursday.

At North Webster, Anekah Coleman had a double for the Lady Knights.

Evangel’s Brooklyn Horton pitched a three-hitter.

At Glenbrook, the Lady Apaches drew eight walks but didn’t get a hit off St. Mary’s Grace Wren.

Glenbrook hosts Plain Dealing Wednesday.
