High school boys golf: Minden’s McCormick six shots behind leader after first round of Division II tournament

Minden’s Jackson McCormick is tied for 15th after the first round of the Division II state tournament.

He shot a 4-over-par 76 at The Wetlands on Monday in Lafayette. He trails leader Ross Anderson of St. Louis by six strokes.

Holy Cross’ Stephen Faucheaux and  Westlake’s Collin Jones are tied for second at 71.

McCormick shot a 41 on the front nine then rebounded with a 35 on the back.

St. Louis leads the team competition at 288, 12 strokes ahead of second-place St. Thomas More.

The tournament concludes Tuesday.
