The No. 3 seed Bossier Bearkats’ season came to an end with a 3-0 loss to No. 3 University Lab in the Division III semifinals Saturday afternoon in Baton Rouge.
Bossier finished 18-7-2. University (20-2-2) will play No. 1 seed Loyola, like Bossier a member of District 1, for the championship Wednesday in Hammond.
The Cubs are in the title game for the fifth time in the last seven years.
The Bearkats reached the semifinals for the fourth straight season. They were looking for their second trip to Hammond in the last three years.’
Bossier trailed 1-0 at the half. University scored again about halfway through the second half then added another one.
Bossier started the season 3-4-1. The Bearkats won 12 of their next 14
matches in the regular season.
They closed the regular season with a scoreless tie against Loyola.
Bossier shut out their first two opponents in the playoffs then rallied late for a 3-2 victory over St. Louis Catholic in the quarterfinals.
