The Glenbrook Apaches got outstanding performances on both sides of the ball in a 43-22 victory over the LaSalle Tigers Friday night in Olla.
Braxton Tibbitt threw four touchdown passes, including three to Darron Hollingsworth.
After losses to teams in Class 2A, 4A and 5A in their first three games, Glenbrook won for the first time this season. LaSalle, a member of District 4-1A, dropped to 1-3 with its third straight loss.
The Apaches led 29-8 at the half and 36-10 at the end of three quarters. The Tigers scored a couple of fourth-quarter touchdowns with the game out of reach.
The Glenbrook defense stepped up early. The Apaches stopped fourth-down attempts on the Tigers first two possessions and forced a punt on the third In the first quarter.
The domination continued into the second. Glenbrook forced another punt then stopped yet another fourth-down attempt.
Meanwhile, Tibbitt completed a 20-yard touchdown pass to Hollingsworth, capping a 55-yard drive. A successful two-point conversion followed.
A short punt set up the Apaches’ second touchdown. Tibbitt completed a 23-yard pass on third-and 9 from the 27. Louie Collins scored on short run and Sam Scroggs’ first PAT put Glenbrook up 15-0 in the second quarter,
After forcing a turnover on downs, Tibbitt hit Hollingsworth for 41 yards and a touchdown.
A good kickoff return to the Glenbrook 46 set up LaSalle’s lone first-half touchdown. A two-point conversion cut the lead to 22-8.
But the Apaches weren’t done. Kleaton Davis caught a short pass from Tibbitt and scored from 6 yards out with 23 seconds left in the half.
The Tigers put together a good drive early in the third quarter. But the Apaches stepped up again, stopping another fourth-down play short of a first inside the 10.
However, Glenbrook gave up a safety.
After the free kick, Ryan Reagan intercepted a pass and returned it to LaSalle 35.
A couple of runs by Davis and a pass to Carson Powell moved the ball to the 4. Tibbitt then connected with Hollingsworth in the end zone for the third time. Scroggs’ PAT gave the Apaches the 36-10 lead with 5:18 left in the third quarter.
Getting some great blocks on the right edge, Carson Whitehead sprinted 31 yards for the Apaches’ final touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Glenbrook hosts North Caddo Friday. The Titans (1-2) defeated Plain Dealing 21-0 Friday night.
