The Glenbrook Apaches got back in the win column Friday night with a 29-6 victory over the previously undefeated Arcadia Hornets in Arcadia,
Glenbrook improved to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in District 1-1A. Arcadia dropped to 4-1 and 0-1.
Glenbrook Head Coach Reagan Smith said the key was “just getting back to what we are comfortable doing, not overextending ourselves, and playing our game. Playing our game was the difference tonight.”
The Apaches led only 8-6 late in the third quarter before pulling away thanks to some big plays from players who have been producing them all season.
Chase Sentell scored two rushing touchdowns and caught a touchdown pass from Easton Sanders.
Sanders also threw a touchdown pass to Landry Powell.
“Again we had to overcome some self-inflicted wounds,” Smith said. “If we can just get over the turnover bug.”
The Glenbrook defense did its part, holding a team averaging 34.5 points per game to one touchdown.
Smith was impressed with the Hornets.
“They were legit good,” he said “They have really special athletes, especially in the backfield but basically all over the field. They’re a good football team.”
Glenbrook will be at home for the first time since Week 2 Friday against Magnolia School of Excellence. The Mariners (0-5, 0-1) lost to Mansfield 40-0 Friday night.
