Week 6 was a tough one for parish teams as all four lost for the first time in the same week this season.

North DeSoto 63, Minden 13: The Griffins showed why they are ranked No. 1 in the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class 4A poll.

The defending district champion improved to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in district. Minden dropped to 2-4 and 1-2.

The Crimson Tide defense played well in the first half. Minden made five stops, including two on fourth down.

But the Tide had three turnovers in the first quarter, including an interception on their opening drive to the North DeSoto 11.

They also failed to get a first down on fourth down and less than a yard at the Minden 21.

The Griffins led 14-0 after the first quarter. They extended it to 21-0 with 7:49 left in the second.

Minden’s Kaiden Shine went around left end for a 75-yard touchdown. Braxton Glover’s extra-point kick got the Tide within 14 with 3:28 left in the half

But North DeSoto scored two touchdowns In the final 3:12 for a 35-7 halftime lead.

Caylien Aubrey scored Minden’s other touchdown on a 68-yard pass from Jaden Johnson late in the third quarter.

Minden starter Hudson Brown completed 11-of-20 passes for 131 yards, per stats kept for the KBEF-FM broadcast. He also rushed for 26 yards.

Brown left the game in the third quarter after seemingly suffering a leg injury on a run out of bounds.

Aubrey finished with four catches for 99 yards. Shine had 90 yards rushing and 47 receiving.

North DeSoto’s Luke Delafield completed 14-of-24 passes for 224 yards and five touchdowns. Braelyn Latin rushed for 129 yards and two TDs.

Minden hosts Booker T. Washington Friday. The Lions (4-2, 1-2) lost to Northwood 48-8 Thursday night.

Arcadia 35, Glenbrook 8: The Apaches played without starting quarterback Ryan Reagan for most of the District 1-1A game Thursday night in Arcadia.

Reagan played only two offensive series after taking a knee to the head making a tackle from his defensive back position, Head Coach Greg Tibbitt said.

“I think he’ll be fine,” Tibbitt said. “He just kind of got his head hit. He tried to make a tackle on defense and the guy was running and his knee went into Ryan’s head.

“It was kind of a precautionary thing. He wasn’t diagnosed with a concussion but we were afraid he was having some symptoms so it was let’s be safe for him before we pursue this any further.”

Tibbitt said going into the game he thought his team was on pace where it needed to be. But Thursday’s loss was somewhat of a setback.

“We talked about how young we are and all those kind of things,” he said. “I kind of feel like we kind of took a step back Thursday night, though.

“Some of that may be losing Ryan early in the game. You kind of have to change the offense up a little bit. There were certain things you thought you could do or that you wanted to do that you put on the back burner and kind of switch it up. That may have had something to do with it but I think there are some times where our youth does shine through sometimes and that was one of them.”

Tibbitt used both freshman Louie Collins and eighth-grader Braxton Tibbitt at quarterback. Tibbitt threw the first touchdown pass of his career to another eighth-grader, Tae Morris covering 36 yards.

Morris also had an interception in the game.

Glenbrook dropped to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in district. Arcadia improved to 2-4 and 2-1.

Glenbrook hosts Lincoln Prep Friday. The Panthers (2-4, 1-2) defeated Ringgold 42-0 Friday night.

Many 56, Lakeside 13: The Warriors fell behind early and the Tigers continued to pull away in the District 3-2A opener at Many.

Lakeside dropped to 3-3 with its second straight loss. Many, which lost to Lakeside 28-6 last season, snapped a three-game losing streak and improved to 3-3.

The Warriors fell behind 13-0. They scored to get within six but after that it was all Many. The Tigers led 47-13 in the third quarter.

Lakeside hosts Red River Friday. The defending district champion Bulldogs (2-4) fell to Mansfield 38-30 in their district opener Friday night.

Carroll 33, North Webster 0: The District 1-3A opener in Monroe was scoreless at the half but the Bulldogs got going in the second half.

Carroll improved to 3-3. North Webster dropped to 3-3 with its second straight loss.

The Knights have struggled offensively in their last two games, scoring only one touchdown.

North Webster hosts defending non-select Division III state champion Sterlington Thursday night. The Panthers (4-2) opened defense of their district title with a 40-0 victory over Richwood Friday night.
