LaDarien Amos has been named head girls basketball coach at Minden, according to a post on the school’s official Facebook page.
He replaces Kelli Edwards, who stepped down after one season.
Amos comes to Minden from Homer where he had been the head coach since 2019. He is a graduate of Haynesville and Northwestern State.

“My goal is to guide students to a pathway of success by challenging them to maximize their potential. I will provide guidance, inspiration, and resources to help them achieve their goals and prepare for their futures beyond high school.”
Homer made the playoffs all seven of his seasons at Homer. The Lady Pels reached the non-select Division IV playoffs in 2025, going 19-10.
Homer reached the non-select Division IV quarterfinals in 2023 and the Class 1A quarterfinals in 2022. The Lady Pels reached the second round in 2020, 2021 and 2024.
Last season, Homer went 8-14. The Lady Pels went into the playoffs as the No. 22 seed. They upset No. 11 Varnado in the first round before falling in the second round.
Minden went 16-14 last season, falling to No. 10 seed Brusly in the first round of the non-select Division II playoffs.
