The Minden Lady Tiders stayed within striking distance, but they didn’t have an answer for North Vermilion sophomore pitcher Kallie Gibson in the second round of the non-select Division II playoffs Wednesday in Maurice.
Gibson pitched a no-hitter as the No. 4 seed Lady Patriots defeated the No. 13 Lady Tiders 5-0.
Minden closed its season 18-12. North Vermilion will take a 23-6 record into the quarterfinals.
Gibson struck out 14 and walked three.
The Lady Patriots had six hits. They also took advantage of eight walks and two hit-by-pitches.
Zoe Harrington went 3-for-4 with a home run, double and two RBI.
North Vermilion scored two in the second and third. It remained 4-0 until the Lady Patriots tacked on one in the sixth.
