High school track and field: Doyline’s Harris continues domination in District 1-B meet

Doyline senior Izayla Harris won four events in the District 1-B girls meet for the second straight year Wednesday in Quitman.

She took the 100 in 12.22, the 200 in 25.26 and the 400 in 1:00.98. Harris won those events for the third straight year and is the Class B record holder in all three.

She also won the triple jump with a 35-5. She finished second in the event in the state meet last year.

Harris cruised to victory in all four events. She finished 1.54 seconds ahead of Weston’s Keeley Davis in the 100, 2.45 ahead of Quitman’s Sunni Altheimer in the 200 and 6.37 ahead of Quitman’s Rylee Kelley in the 400.

Her distance in the triple jump was 4 feet, 9 inches farther than that of runner-up Sky McMullan of Castor.

The top four individuals and relay teams qualified for the Region I-B meet Tuesday at Castor.

Nadia Lara qualified in the girls 300 hurdles with a third-place finish and the 800 with a fourth-place finish.

The Lady Panthers’ 4X100, 4X200 and 4X400 all qualified.

In the boys division, Jonas Florence won the district title in the discus with a 115-0.5. Castor’s Caden Bryant was second with a 104-1.25.

Zach Moreno had a very good meet. He finished second in the 1,600 in 5:32.21 and 3,200 in 12:48.6 and third in the 800 in 2:25.69.

Quitman’s Gage Horton won the 800 in 2:14.73 and the 1,600 in 5:05.38. His teammate Mathew Odom took the 3,200 in 12:39.9.

Tiago Lara was third in the triple jump with a 35-11. Castor’s DeAndre Clark won with a 39-9.

Doyline’s 4X100, 4X200 and 4X400 teams all qualified for the regional meet.
