Lakeside sophomore Ryleigh Taylor qualified for the Class 2A girls state meet in three events in the Region I-2A meet Wednesday at ULM.
Despite delays caused by inclement weather, the entire meet was completed.
Taylor won the long jump with a distance of 16 feet, 10 inches. Union Parish’s Haily Smith was second with a 15-10.
Taylor also qualified in the 100 and 200 with third-place finishes. She ran a time of 12.76 seconds in the 100 and 26.35 in the 200. Mansfield’s LaJordan Boykins won both in 12.24 and 26.35, respectively.
Abrielle Parker finished third in the 400 in 1:04.06. Delhi Charter’s Paityn Alexander won in 1:03.67.
Paisley Ware was third in the pole vault with a height of 6-6. Ouachita Christian’s Kelsey Woods won with a 7-6.
The foursome of Alexis McIntosh, Meridith Beckworth, Angel Collins and Annie Cooper finished third in the 4X800 relay in 12:16.13. Ouachita Christian won in 11:41.00.
Kentravion Miller was the only Lakeside athlete to qualify for the state meet in the boys division. He was third in the shot put with a throw of 43-7. Ouachita Christian’s James Murry McGehee won with a 47-7.
The Class 2A state meet is Friday, May 8, at LSU.
