High school track and field: Minden’s Mitchell wins long jump in Haughton meet; several other parish athletes fare well

Several Webster Parish athletes fared well in the Haughton Buccaneer Relays Thursday.

Minden’s Cameron Mitchell won the long jump with a leap of 20-6.5, 3 inches farther than Haughton’s Amryon Lars.

North Webster’s Braedon Robertson was third with a 20-0 1/2.

North Webster’s Nevaeh Watts finished third in the girls 100 in 12.60. That was just .10 behind winner Ke’Zyriah Sykes of Airline.

Watts also helped the Lady Knights finish runner-up in both the 4X100 and 4X200 relays.

The senior teamed with three freshmen — De’Maiyh Moore, Tomiyah Hawthorne and Markiau Scott — in the 4X100. They ran a 50.78. Airline won in 48.64.

The same foursome ran a 1:46.45 in the 4X200. Airline won in 1:45.33.

North Webster’s Anekah Coleman finished third in the girls 200 in 26.92. Sykes won in 25.72.

North Webster finished third in the boys 4X100 and 200 relays.

Robertson, Dejuan Coleman, Avante Curry and Jkobe Lawson ran a 44.14 in the 4X100. Haughton won in 42.58.

North Webster finished third in the boys 4X200 relay in 1:32.34. Airline won in 1:29.46.

Lawson was third in the 200 in 22.41. Airline’s Cameron Jefferson won in 21.83.

Minden’s Brayden Britton and Cameron Parker finished 3-4 in the boys 300 hurdles in 43.77 and 43.90, respectively. Airline’s Kye Lehr won in 42.47.

North Webster finished sixth out of 12 teams that posted scores in the girls division and seventh out of 11 teams in the boys.

The Choudrant and Haughton meets were the final tine-ups before next week’s district meets.

The District 1-2A meet is Tuesday at Lakeside. The District 1-3A meet is Wednesday at Sterlington.

The District 1-1A meet is Wednesday at Plain Dealing.

The District 1-4A meet is Thursday at North DeSoto.
