Holli Conway wins Miss La. crown; Miss Minden talks competition, future plans

by Minden Press-Herald

The Miss Louisiana 2018 pageant wrapped up its final day of competition Saturday night, crowning Miss Heart of Pilot Holli Conway of Monroe as the latest Miss Louisiana.

Miss Minden Hannah Harper represented Webster Parish through four days of competition and performance. Two other Minden natives and former Miss Minden contestants, Miss Port of New Orleans Sharity Brent and Miss Dixie Stockshow Magan Billups, also competed for the crown, though none of the three placed in the top ten.

Harper said she will always remember the companionship she encountered throughout the event.

“The Miss Louisiana week was a fantastic experience where I made many friends and memories that will last a lifetime,” she said. “I was truly overwhelmed by the kindness I experienced as the contestants helped each other and supported one another through the long week of appearances and rehearsals.”

Conway won her preliminary talent competition with vocal performance, while eventual runner-up Miss Shreveport Emily Randon took first in the swimsuit competition. This was the last swimsuit competition to be held on the Miss Louisiana stage.

Harper said she will continue to be a voice for Webster Parish for the remainder of her time with the Miss Minden crown. In the fall, she will begin her senior year as a biomedical engineering student at Louisiana Tech University.

“Although this portion of my reign as Miss Minden is complete, I look forward to doing community service work and promoting local businesses in Webster Parish until giving up my crown in November,” she said.

“The Minden community has been such a blessing as I’ve experienced this adventure, and it was my distinct honor to represent such a magnificent group of people at Miss Louisiana. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity.”
