In light of all that is happening around the country, the world and in some cases, our own backyards, the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated observed their first International Day of Prayer on August 26, 2018. Under the leadership of our new International President, Dr. Glenda B. Glover, the sorority plans to make this day an annual occurrence. As a sign of solidarity, the sorority members all over the country came together in prayer, worship and fellowship at their chosen houses of worship. The Iota Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated chose to worship and pray for peace, love, compassion and the elimination of hatred at St. Rest Baptist Church in Minden, Louisiana. Over 25 members of the chapter came together for our first annual day of prayer. In addition to worshiping with St Rest Baptist Church, the Iota Rho Omega Chapter presented the church with a donation of $240. Also, collectively at 7:08 pm within respective time zones, members of the entire sorority paused in prayer over the phone through a call-in line to once again offer prayer for each other, their chapters and their members. The president of Iota Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is Patricia A. McMurray and the Rev. Robby Dale Williams is the pastor of St. Rest Baptist Church.
