Funeral services for Irma Ruth Kirkland Heard will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, at First Pentecostal Church in Minden with the Rev. Jeff Ramsey and the Rev. Kenneth Dehart officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Minden under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, 2015 at the church.

Irma was born April 5, 1926 in East Fork, Mississippi and went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015 in Minden. She was one of 10 children born to Merida Earl and Myrtis Long. She has shared many stories from her childhood. Irma was very talented and nothing pleased her more than making quilts for her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Merida and Myrtis Long, brothers Wesley Long, Joseph Long, Earl David Long, sisters Esther Trichel, Christine Carroll, Etta Ma Bowlin, Sadie Pauline Long, husbands Benton L. Kirkland, Sr. and J.D. Heard, sons B.L. Kirkland, Jr., Paul D. Kirkland, daughter Carrie Martin and great-grandson Cade Kirkland.

She is survived by her brothers Adriel Long of West Monroe, Kenneth Long and his wife Nell of Leaksville, Mississippi, sister Annette Carlock of Baltimore, Maryland, her children Carl Kirkland of Farmerville, Gerald Kirkland and wife Netta of Minden, Derald Kirkland and wife Mary Jo of Minden, , Perry Kirkland and wife Sherry of Cotton Valley, John Kirkland and finacee Ginger of Downsville, Mike Kirkland and wife Debbie of Benton, and Alta Roberts and husband Bill of Minden, stepdaughter Brenda Moerchen of Winnfield, stepson Clyde Heard and wife Ann of Dubberly, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Matt Roberts, Jason Kirkland, Bobby Kirkland, Michael Cruse, William Roberts, and Roger Kirkland.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Pearson and Pat Praxaybane.

The family extends a special thanks to Minden Medical Center, Dr. Michael Chanler and their staff.
