Funeral services for James Shurrell Pruitt will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Evergreen Church in Evergreen Community in Minden with the Rev. Floyd Smith and the Rev. Floyd Stratton officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.

James was born Nov.25, 1940 in Haynesville and entered into rest March 24, 2016 in Minden. He was a member of Evergreen Union Church where he served as deacon, taught Sunday School, and played the piano since he was 6 years old. He raised, showed and hunted cocker spaniels. James graduated from LSU and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

He is survived by his wife Kay Pruitt of Evergreen community, son James Harold Pruitt II and wife Beate, daughters Miranda Pruitt Henson and husband Brad, and Lydia Diane Pruitt all of Evergreen community, grandchildren James S. Pruitt II, Megan Pruitt, Joseph Coker and Lauren Coker.

Pallbearers will be Chip Cline, Randy Ewing, Dr. Mike Barrington, Dr. Wayne McMahen, Chris Guidry and Dr. Ken Fitzgerald III.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sherburne Sentell, Mike Woodard, and members of his Sunday school class.
