James Thomas Hodges, Jr.

James “Jim” Thomas Hodges, Jr. of Minden passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at the age of 72.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 25, 2021 with a memorial service immediately following at First Baptist West Chapel.

Jim was born in Houston, Texas on September 15, 1948.  He graduated from Wayne High School in Dayton, Ohio and then went on to join the US Army Division of the Armed Services. In 1975 he moved to Minden where he worked for many years at the Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant and later for the City of Minden.  

After retirement, he joined his wife at Fanette’s Flower House and Fanette’s Children and Bridal.  His hobbies included car building, racing, fishing, and spending time with his 6 grandchildren who affectionately called him Bop.  He was preceded in death by his parents, James Thomas Hodges, Sr. and Ella Kathryn Zarley Hodges.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Fanette Zeitz Hodges; daughters, Karrie Hodges Woodard and husband Jason of Houston, Texas, and Whitney Hodges Floyd of Minden; grandchildren , Mary-Holland Floyd, William Hodges Woodard, Ella Kathryn Floyd, Caroline Marie Floyd, John Whitten Woodard, Mary-Marshall Woodard; sister, Linda Hodges Turner and husband Larry of Xenia, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to American Heart Association or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
