Kansas City places non-exclusive franchise tag on L’Jarius Sneed

by Russell Hedges

The Kansas City Chiefs announced Monday that they have placed a non-exclusive franchise tag on cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, a former Minden High and Louisiana Tech star.

According to media reports, Sneed can now speak with teams about a potential trade.

The Chiefs have the right to match any offers he receives.

If Sneed signs with another team and the Chiefs don’t match the offer, Kansas City will receive two first-round draft picks from that team, according to a Sports Illustrated article.

Sneed had tackles, two interceptions and one fumble recovery last season.

His play has been instrumental in the Chiefs’ winning back-to-back Super Bowls.

The 27-year-old Sneed has played in three Super Bowls in his four years in the NFL.

The city of Minden feted him with a parade and celebration Saturday.
