KAREN’S KORNER
I was “taught” to respect my elders. I was “taught” to respect and honor God, country, and those who fought so that I may have the freedom I have today.
I was “taught” Christian principles, and “taught” to say yes mam and no sir; and to respect my teachers and those in authority, and to have manners and to be thankful. I was “taught” to say the Pledge of Allegiance, the Lord’s Prayer, and the Preamble to the U.S Constitution…”.We The People.”
I am very fortunate to grow up in the days of parental discipline, and the teaching of principles that have followed me after all these years. And I am truly grateful for that.
I hope during this time of the year, we realize and are appreciative for all of the blessings we have and have had throughout the years. We are just coming through the Thanksgiving season, and I know things are going to be very busy for the Christmas season, but I hope we all take stock of the wonderful memories we have had growing up. While I know, not all memories are so good; but for the ones that are, we need to be grateful. Life is getting shorter every day and we need to make the most of it.
Eleanor Roosevelt said it best, “Life is what you make it. Always has been, always will be.”
Have a great week, and remember: ”We are here to add what we can to life, not to get what we can from life.” William Osler
