There is something to be said about being grateful. Grateful is defined in the Oxford Dictionary as: “Feeling or showing an appreciation of kindness, thankful.”
Synonyms for grateful would be glad, indebted, obliged, delighted, beholden, pleased. contented and gratified. Being thankful is directly related to gratitude.
And as Senior Adults still standing today, we have quite a lot for which we should be grateful.
We still live in a free country, and I hope it will remain that way in the future.
We have been through many difficulties, trials, wars, obstacles, and serious situations, but we have come out on the other side.
We have family and friends that have been with us throughout our present lives, and even though many have gone on before us, we have those rich golden memories.
We have vast improvements in technology that have made living a little easier and a bit more educationally challenging as well.
We have lived life, like no other generation that has come before or that will come after.
We have had many freedoms, as President Lincoln put it best: “This nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom – and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”
We also have the Webster Parish Council on Aging, where folks over 60 years of age can come and play games, fellowship, be entertained, and have a great meal with other Seniors.
What is better than that?
But most of all, I am grateful for all the blessings God bestows, for every good thing comes from Him.
Have a great day and be grateful. It couldn’t hurt!
