SIBLEY – Lakeside’s early struggles have been well-documented.
The shaky start to the season had some scratching their heads, but those same folks have to be feeling pretty good this morning, after Lakeside used great pitching and timely hitting to hand Calvary Baptist Academy their first district loss.
Lakeside remains unbeaten in district 1-2A, and now have sole possession of first place.
Tanner Page and Brayden Jones got the job done for the Warriors, combining to limit Calvary to three hits on the night. They got help at the plate from Jake Gray who finished with three hits of his own to go with 2 clutch RBIs.
Jones pitched the first three innings for Lakeside, limiting Calvary to one hit while striking out three batters. In the fourth, Jones gave way to Page who calmly worked the final four innings, striking out two batters, allowing two hits and one run. Jones was the winning pitcher for the Warriors, improving his season record to 4-3.
Gray had an RBI double in the third inning before adding a run-scoring single in the fifth. Colton Carter followed up Gray’s fifth inning RBI with a double to score Josh Prince and increase the Lakeside lead. Cameron Gray went 2-2 and drove in a run in the second with a single. Logan McIver, Dalton Crumpler, Brayden Jones and Josh Prince all added hits for Lakeside in the win.
