Guest speaker for this Thursday’s noon meeting of the Minden Lions Club will be Laynie Smith.
Laynie has served as a Webster Parish 4-H agent since September 2019. A native of St. James Parish, she was an active 4-H member for nine years and interned in the St. James and Ascension parishes Extension Offices while in college.
Laynie has been a longtime advocate for agriculture and agriculture education, serving as a student ambassador for the LSU College of Agriculture and as an active member of Sigma Alpha Agricultural and Professional Sorority during her undergraduate years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in textiles, apparel and merchandising from LSU and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in agriculture and extension education and evaluation from LSU.
Laynie and her husband, Jacob, reside in Sibley.
The Minden Lions Club meets Thursdays at noon at the American Legion Memorial Home, located at 119 Pine St. in downtown Minden.
