Leadership Webster now accepting applications for 2026–27 class

by Amber McDown

The Greater Minden Chamber is encouraging local businesses and organizations to invest in emerging leaders by supporting participation in the upcoming Leadership Webster program, with applications now open for the 2026–27 class.

Leadership Webster is a nine-session leadership development program designed to build informed and engaged leaders across Webster Parish. The program begins in September with an orientation reception and concludes in May with a graduation luncheon.

Participants meet monthly for full-day sessions, typically held on the second Wednesday of each month from 8 AM to 5 PM, and travel to various locations throughout the parish. The curriculum covers a range of topics, including education, economic development, healthcare and social concerns, nonprofit and civic organizations, local government and community development, and legislative affairs. Additional components include a simulated society exercise, community history, and required attendance at meetings of local governing bodies such as the Minden City Council, the Webster Parish School Board, and the Webster Parish Police Jury.

A key part of the program is a mandatory two-day, overnight visit to the Louisiana Legislature in Baton Rouge, scheduled to coincide with the legislative session.

Chamber officials said employers who sponsor participants in Leadership Webster benefit from employees who gain a broader understanding of the region, strengthen leadership skills, and develop professional relationships that can bring long-term value to their organizations.

Participants are expected to attend all nine sessions, with the orientation and legislative visit required. Attendance at community meetings is also mandatory, and participants may have no more than two absences during the remaining sessions. Those who do not meet attendance requirements will be dropped from the program without a refund of tuition.

From participants in recent years, feedback has indicated the program provides a valuable experience, with many reporting they gained more knowledge and insight than expected.

Businesses and organizations are encouraged to nominate or support a rising leader within their team to take part in the program.

Program details and application information are available online at the Greater Minden Chamber website, greatermindenchamber.com.
