Local educator and former community leader Patrick M. Lindsey has officially released his debut novel, The Horn of Winter: The Hunt for the White Stag, the first installment in a planned four-book epic fantasy series.
Lindsey, a longtime member of the Minden community, has spent years serving the area in multiple roles. He previously served as a City of Minden Police Officer, where he worked to protect and serve local residents. After his time in law enforcement, Lindsey continued his commitment to young people as the Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Minden, helping mentor and guide local youth through programs designed to support education, leadership, and character development.
Today, Lindsey continues his dedication to education as the Assistant Principal at Logansport High School, where he works with students, teachers, and families to support academic success and positive school culture.
Now Lindsey is adding another title to his resume — published author.
His debut novel, The Horn of Winter: The Hunt for the White Stag, introduces readers to the mythic forest of Ashenwood, a land filled with ancient legends, sacred beasts, and a mysterious horn whose call awakens forgotten guardians of the wild. At the heart of the story is the legend of the White Stag, a mythical creature tied to the fate of the forest and the hunters who seek it.
The novel blends elements of classic epic fantasy with original mythology centered around sacred guardians, ancient forests, and the legendary Horn of Winter. Lindsey plans to expand the story across a four-book saga titled The Horn of Winter series.
The upcoming books in the series include:
- The Horn of Winter: The Broken Antler
- The Horn of Winter: Winter’s Warden
- The Horn of Winter: The First Guardian (a prequel exploring the origins of the mythology)
According to Lindsey, storytelling has always been a passion, and his experiences serving the community have shaped the themes of courage, duty, and leadership found within the novel.
“Many of the values in the story — protecting others, standing up in the face of danger, and honoring tradition — are lessons I’ve learned throughout my career in public service and education,” Lindsey said.
The Horn of Winter: The Hunt for the White Stag is currently available for purchase through Amazon, where the novel has begun reaching readers interested in epic and mythic fantasy.
Lindsey hopes the series will resonate not only with fantasy readers but also with members of the local community who have supported him throughout his career in law enforcement, youth development, and education.
As a local author, Lindsey plans to continue promoting the novel through community events, bookstore opportunities, and potential book signings throughout the region.
