The Minden Lions Club will welcome Chelsey Jewel Cormier of Lafayette as its guest speaker at the upcoming November 20 noon meeting at the American Legion Memorial Home, 119 W. Pine Street.
Cormier, 34, serves as manager of The Broken Bean and as ministry coordinator for the Louisiana Adult & Teen Challenge ministry team. She graduated from the program in April after enrolling in 2023 and was later asked to remain on staff.
Cormier’s work includes supporting women and children participating in the faith-based residential recovery program and assisting with ministry outreach. She has been employed at The Broken Bean since entering the program and describes it as a setting where she has applied the lessons learned through her time in the organization.
Her remarks are expected to focus on her path through the program, her current roles at Adult & Teen Challenge, and its impact on individuals seeking restoration and stability. She also plans to speak about her family, including her son, Joshua, who remained with her during her time in the program, and the recent progress in rebuilding her relationship with her daughter, Faith.
The Lions Club hosts speakers each Thursday at noon.
