Local veterans were treated to a warm meal and community fellowship Saturday during a pancake breakfast at the American Legion Hall, an event organizers say they plan to make a regular tradition.
Hosted by the Minden Evening Lions Club, the breakfast drew veterans and supporters for pancakes, sausage, and coffee. Volunteers with Webster Parish Veterans Safety Net were also on hand to share information about services available to local veterans.
The Safety Net’s mission is to provide unwavering support for Webster Parish veterans and ensure every hero has a secure, thriving community. The group offers crisis line resources, suicide prevention efforts, assistance connecting veterans with services, and monthly coffee socials at Huffman Manor. The coffee social is held the first Saturday of each month at 9:30 AM.
Organizers said the turnout underscored the community’s commitment to honoring those who served and that plans are underway to continue the breakfast as an ongoing event.
