Minden, LA. – The LSU AgCenter Nutrition and Community Health (NCH) Agent Team has been selected to present a concurrent session, “Exploring the Germ Cave,” at the 2026 National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (NEAFCS) Annual Session, which will be held in late September in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The presentation will be delivered by LSU AgCenter Nutrition & Community Health team members Quincy Vidrine, Sandra May, Jennifer Duhon, Brittney Newsome, and Dr. Shakera Williams. During the session, the team will share the development and implementation of the Germ Cave, an interactive educational experience designed to teach youth and families about germ transmission, disease prevention, proper handwashing, and healthy habits through hands-on learning.

The selection of this presentation recognizes the team’s commitment to delivering innovative, research-based health education programs that make learning engaging and meaningful. Through the Germ Cave, participants gain a visual and memorable understanding of how germs spread and the importance of practicing healthy behaviors to protect themselves and their communities.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to showcase the Germ Cave program with Extension professionals from across the nation,” said the NCH team. “This session will allow us to share strategies for creating engaging health education experiences while learning from colleagues who are making a difference in communities nationwide.”

The NEAFCS Annual Session brings together Family and Consumer Sciences Extension professionals from across the United States to exchange ideas, share successful educational programs, and explore innovative approaches to serving individuals and families.

The LSU AgCenter remains committed to improving the health and well-being of Louisiana residents through impactful nutrition, health, and wellness education.
