Funeral services for Luther “Cheetah” Gilbert will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2011, at the 14th District Building with the Rev. James Edwards officiating. Interment will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery.
Luther Gilbert was born Sept. 19, 1943 in Minden to Luther Gilbert Sr. and Jessie Allen Gilbert.
He accepted Christ as his personal saviour at an early age and joined the New Light Baptist Church.
“Cheetah” was a graduate of Webster High School Class of 1962.
Angels were dispatched for Luther’s earthly departure on Nov. 3. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert Earl Gilbert; and two sisters, Virgie Miller and Ruby Hendon.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Shonda Renee Gilbert Wofford; sister, Maxine Gilbert Fuller (W. C.); granddaughter, Gina Antoinette Gilbert; great-grandchildren, Patience Yvette Gilbert, Damarco Quintel Harris, Dervorious Tyjajuan Gilbert, and Isaiah Demon Gilbert; a very loyal friend, Willie Herman Bennett; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Monday, Nov. 9 in the chapel of Kennon’s Mortuary from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Services are entrusted to Kennon’s Mortuary. Email condolences may be sent to [email protected].
