Main to Main kicks off Friday

by Minden Press-Herald

The 16th annual Main to Main Trade Days will go on Friday and Saturday despite forecasts of a wet weekend.

Minden Main Street Board President Terry Gardner says it will not be cancelled, and advised vendors to wear weather appropriate attire.

“I would encourage everybody to bring tents,” he said, “but the chance of rain tomorrow is 40 percent, so we’re hoping it’s going to be 60 percent dry. We’re still expecting a big turnout, though.”

Beginning at dawn Friday morning, patrons will be able to shop store specials, antiques, flea markets, garage sales, food vendors, bake sales, church bazaars, arts and crafts, collectibles, entertainment and more from Springhill to Heflin.

The route begins on Main Street in Springhill, down Highway 371 South, through the main streets of the small Webster Parish towns of Cullen, Sarepta, Cotton Valley, Couchwood to Dixie Inn. It will continue onto Highway 80 on Shreveport Road, through downtown Minden, then back south on Highway 371 to the Sibley Road flea market, south through Sibley and down to the Webster Parish line.

Sponsors of this year’s Main to Main Trade Days are Louisiana Main Street, Webster Parish Convention and Visitors Bureau, Springhill Chamber of Commerce and the Minden-South Webster Chamber of Commerce.
