Main to Main Trade Days coming next week

by Amber McDown

The 23rd annual Main to Main Trade Days will be taking place November 4-5, this year. This giant flea market meets garage sale meets retail shopping venture is always a huge draw for people who like to shop for bargains or who just want to find something a little different.

Main to Main runs a 50-mile route from Main Street in Springhill all the way down to Sibley, following Highway 371 through the towns of Cullen, Sarepta, Cotton Valley, and Couchwood and then, at Dixie Inn, taking Highway 80 through downtown Minden, and then back on Highway 371 into Sibley, ending at the Sibley Road Flea Market. This shopping extravaganza runs from dawn through dusk each day.

Not only will private vendors be set up on the roadsides for this, but downtown shops will bring the shopping out onto the sidewalks, many offering specials and bargains that weekend. Shoppers will be able to find anything from antiques to original artwork to homemade foods.

“Downtown Minden will feature food, art, and crafts,” says Mahala Hutto, Main Street Director for Minden. “A giant flea market will be located on the Sibley Road as you head south from Main Street with plenty of parking,” adds Hutto.

There’s a lot to see and do, so be sure to give yourself plenty of time.

“Plan at least one full day with us and two if you want to see everything along the route. The clock tower triangle in Springhill is a hot spot for a variety of treasures. Shoppers and vendors are welcome!” said Linda McDaniel, Springhill Main Street Director.

This event is sponsored by Louisiana Main Street, Webster Parish Convention & Visitors Bureau, Springhill Chamber of Commerce and the Minden South Webster Chamber of Commerce. Participants are encouraged to honor 6-foot distancing and request that people who are sick stay home.
