A Metairie man was arrested after allegedly stealing more than 80 pounds of copper scrap from Camp Minden on November 4.
Wuhiston Reyes Parada, 37, was charged with misdemeanor theft after his employer reportedly caught him taking copper from a job site at the facility.
According to a Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office report, deputies were dispatched to the main gate of Camp Minden, where Parada had been detained by Force Patrol personnel.
Investigators said Parada’s supervisor caught him stealing copper from a job site. Deputies subsequently discovered approximately 81.3 pounds of copper scrap inside two bags.
After being advised of his Miranda rights, Parada reportedly admitted taking the copper after his supervisor advised him of its value.
Parada was taken into custody and transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center for booking on the misdemeanor theft charge.
All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
