by Minden Press-Herald

A Minden man was arrested after allegedly pointing a firearm at a woman during a disturbance on High Street, according to a police report.

Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of High Street in reference to a subject who reportedly pulled a gun on someone at the residence. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the complainant, who stated she had been socializing with several individuals when Kyland Greenard, 25, of Minden, arrived with an unknown male.

The complainant told officers that Greenard attempted to encourage her and the unknown male to engage in sexual activity, which she refused. A verbal altercation followed in the front yard, during which Greenard allegedly used offensive language. The complainant said she told the individuals to leave, at which point Greenard reportedly stated that women were not going to disrespect them.

According to the report, Greenard then retrieved a firearm and pointed it at the complainant, threatening to shoot her and her family. The complainant described the weapon as a large, black, rifle-style firearm.

Officers later made contact with Greenard at a residence in the 600 block of Morrow Street. During the investigation, a firearm matching the complainant’s description was located under a mattress inside the residence, along with a magazine. Authorities said Greenard admitted the weapon belonged to him.

A witness also told officers that Greenard had the firearm in his vehicle during the altercation and later hid it inside the residence after learning law enforcement had been contacted. A box of Winchester 5.56 target and practice ammunition was reportedly found in the back seat of the vehicle.

Greenard was taken into custody and transported to the Minden Police Department for booking.

He was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
