by Minden Press-Herald

A Minden man was arrested on charges of domestic abuse after he allegedly grabbed his girlfriend around the neck.

Assidious Devout Harris, 26, of the 600 block of Stone Street, was arrested Wednesday, Aug. 5, and charged with domestic abuse battery with child endangerment.

Chief of Police Steve Cropper says Sgt. Ryan Barnette and Officer First Class Ben Allen responded to a call regarding an unwanted person.

“This all took place last night (Wednesday) about midnight,” he said. “Officers arrived, and the victim wanted her boyfriend to leave the residence. Mr. Harris was apparently not on the lease, and both subjects had been living together for the past year and a half.”

He says the victim told police Harris pushed her and grabbed her around the neck. According to the police report, marks were visible around her neck and face.

“During the altercation, three juveniles were present and witnessed the incident,” the chief said. “At that point in time, Mr. Harris was arrested and transported to the Minden Police Department.”

He was booked and transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
