Marilyn McHughes, 70, was born July 5, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri. After a lengthy illness, she entered heaven’s gates on April 4, 2016.

Marilyn had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of Point Chapel A/G in Doyline for over 20 years where she served in various roles such as a Daisy/Prim Leader, Sunday School teacher and Church Community Activities Leader. She was an avid reader. She enjoyed cooking, and trying new recipes, which is a McHughes’ tradition. She worked as a tax preparer for H&R Block in Shreveport-Bossier for 25 years.

She is preceded in death by her friend and former husband of 20 years, Robert McHughes, and her brother, Larry Davis. Marilyn is survived by her sons, Michael McHughes of Shreveport, Thomas Jump of Waco, Texas; her daughter, Carrie Spradling, wife of Lance Spradling, and grandchildren Dillon Rogers, Rylee Harvill and Morgan Spradling, all of Bossier City, LA. She is also survived by Thomas McHughes and wife, Lori of Benton, sister, Karen Kirkgard and husband, Robert of Hempstead, Texas as well as family friends, Marcie Jump of Fort Worth Texas, Joyce Bredenstieiner of St Charles, Missouri and nieces, nephews and grand-dogs.

The family will receive friends and family on Saturday April 9, 2016 from 2 until 3:30 p.m. for visitation, with a memorial service at 3:30 p.m., at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City.
