Graveside services for Marjorie “Margie” Thomas Childs will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Whitehall Cemetery in Haynesville under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. The Rev. Don Woodard will be presiding. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Margie was born March 1, 1926 and passed away peacefully at home July 12, 2016.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Merrell Thomas and Katie Lee Edmonds Thomas, her husband, J. C. Childs, her sister, Merrell Modisette, and her brother-in-law Robert Gryder.
She is survived by her daughter, Janice Childs Yager and husband Rick, her sisters, Pat Gryder and Wanda Butler and husband Henry, brothers, Edmonds Thomas and wife Geraldine and Jimmie Thomas and wife Cindy. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who she dearly loved and by her constant companion and best friend, her cat, Bootsie.
Margie owned and operated Margie’s Beauty Shop in Minden for many years and had a wonderful and faithful clientele who were considered her second family. She often said she enjoyed every day she worked. She loved her family and was a truly generous and caring person, and the most wonderful mother. I will miss her every day.
