Funeral service for Mary Shipp Lindsey will be held Thursday, April 18, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden, Louisiana with Rev. Kenneth Dehart officiating. Graveside will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Douglassville Cemetery in Douglassville, Texas under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. The family will receive friends at 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Thursday at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.

Mary was born August 19, 1933 in Douglassville, Texas and entered into rest April 15, 2019 in Bossier City at the age of 85. Mary’s lifelong dream was to become a Registered Nurse, which she accomplished in 1953, graduating from Northwestern School of Nursing in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Mary served as a Public Health Nurse for Webster Parish for over 20 years and truly loved her work. She delighted in seeing her former children from the Health Unit and meeting them as adults.

Mary Lindsey is preceded in death by her son, James Randal “Randy” Lindsey; her parents, James Raleigh and Mayfred Shipp; her twin sister, Mildred Shipp Kelley, and younger sister, Laura Beth Chase. 

She is survived by her daughter, MaryAnn Lindsey Kaylor and husband Bill of Cotton Valley, her son John David Lindsey and wife Melinda of Minden, granddaughter, Anne-Marie Lindsey and great-grandson, Jacob Lindsey of McKinney, Texas; her sister, Lucy Sudduth and husband Leonard of Shreveport, along with nieces and nephews. 

Pallbearers will be David Lindsey, Bill Kaylor, Tom Craig, Lynn Craig, Andy Staten, and Ellis Dick.

Honorary pallbearer: Mike Staten, In Memoriam.

The family would like to thank all of the caregivers and staff of Colonial Oaks Senior Care, St Joseph’s Hospice, and Mary’s special friend and caregiver, Anita Rushing. 

Memorials may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in Shreveport or local animal shelter of donor’s choice.
