A Minden man is facing multiple felony drug charges after investigators say he attempted to swallow marijuana as deputies approached his vehicle during a traffic stop.
JoMarcus Marcell Wilson, 37, of the 300 block of North Fairview Street, was arrested after Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of High and West streets while executing a search warrant as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies approached Wilson’s vehicle and observed him attempting to swallow approximately 19 grams of marijuana. Investigators removed Wilson from the vehicle, at which point he relinquished the narcotics.
Authorities said deputies also recovered $622 in cash from Wilson during the traffic stop.
Following the stop, investigators executed a search warrant at Wilson’s residence in the 300 block of North Fairview Street. During the search, deputies reportedly discovered approximately 42.1 grams of methamphetamine, 119 grams of marijuana, and 16 grams of synthetic marijuana in the master bedroom.
Sheriff Jason Parker said the arrest was the result of an extended investigation by the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office.
“Detectives Ben Allen, Shawn Jenkins and Anthony Miller did an outstanding job of building a case against Mr. Wilson,” Parker said. “They worked a lot of hours to develop the evidence necessary to make the arrest. We want people in our parish to know we’re always on the lookout for this type of activity and no matter how long it takes, we will be coming for you.”
Wilson was booked on charges of possession of Schedule II methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule I marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule I synthetic marijuana with intent to distribute, as well as two traffic offenses.
All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
