Minden Police arrested a man on drug charges when police discovered reported synthetic marijuana on him.

Chasion D. Chism, 25, of the 900 block of Center Street, was arrested Wednesday, Jan. 27, for possession of Schedule I CDS (synthetic marijuana) second offense and on a probation and parole hold.

Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper says about 3 p.m. that day, Captains Dan Weaver and Marvin Garrett were patrolling the streets in the Shreveport Road area when they came upon two subjects walking in an area where recent burglaries had been reported.

“They got out with the two subjects they both were familiar with,” he said.

“The officers knew they had prior arrests. So they got out and talked to them a little bit, patted them down for weapons. Once they were patted down for officer’s safety, Captain Weaver felt something in Chism’s pocket.”

Cropper says Weaver retrieved a clear plastic baggie containing suspected synthetic marijuana from his pocket. Chism was then placed under arrest.

“He had at least one prior conviction of synthetic marijuana, which made this a felony offense,” the chief said.

When he was booked at police headquarters, Weaver and Garrett learned he was on parole, so a hold was placed on him.

Chism was then transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
