by Minden Press-Herald

A shooting broke out at a vacant parking lot near Hillside Apartments and the Minden REC Center late Tuesday night. No injuries resulted from the shooting, though one vehicle was reported to have been shot in the altercation.

Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper stated that the involved parties included two groups of girls, one from Homer and one from Minden, who decided to meet at the vacant parking lot to fight.

“Apparently some girls from Homer had been texting some girls from Minden and told him to meet them out there by the REC Center. The group of girls that came in a couple of different vehicles from Homer and parked in that vacant lot, waiting on the girls from Minden, whoever they were supposed to fight,” said Cropper.

“When the girls from Minden showed up, they showed up with guys in the car and the guys in the car started circling them and then they started shooting at the vehicles that were from Homer. Then everybody scattered and ran after the shots rang out.”

Officers were unable to ascertain the names of individuals in the group from Minden or an ID on the vehicles from eye witness reports, however the incident is still undergoing investigation.
