Minden Police are seeking the identity of a man who robbed a convenience store at gunpoint Tuesday.

Det. Chris Cheatham says the robbery took place around 10:48 p.m. when a male described as average weight and height walked into the Dixie Mart on Sibley Road, brandished a gun and demanded the store clerk open the safe.

Cheatham says during the commission of the crime, a customer walked into the store, saw what was going on and tried to stop the man from leaving the store.

“They tussled for a minute and the customer tried to grab the gun away from him,” he said. “The suspect pushed him off after a brief struggle and fled behind the store down the railroad tracks.”

Cheatham says as he was running, some cash came out of the money bag, leaving a trail. That cash was recovered, he said.

The suspect was seen wearing what appeared to be coveralls, some type of head covering and a pillowcase across his face.

The detective says they have submitted some DNA evidence to the crime lab for analysis.

If anyone has any information on the suspect’s identity, call police headquarters at 371-4226.
