Runners of all ages turned out for the Minden Run for St. Jude, held Saturday morning under clear, cool skies, raising funds to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and its mission to fight childhood cancer.
The race began at First Baptist Church, where participants and spectators gathered early to take part in the Kid’s Half Mile Fun Run, followed by the 5K and 10K events. Organizers said the morning atmosphere reflected strong community enthusiasm, with runners and supporters cheering on participants.

In a message following the event, organizers expressed appreciation for the community’s support.
“We are beyond grateful to everyone who came out today to support the St. Jude Run and help raise money for cancer research,” organizers said. “Your participation, generosity, and support truly make a difference for families and children fighting cancer.”
They also thanked route volunteers, packet pickup volunteers, music and announcing crews and Sports Spectrum for helping make the event possible.

“We could not do this without each of you,” the post stated. “From the bottom of our hearts — thank you for showing up, giving back, and supporting such an important cause.”
Results from the Kid’s Half Mile Fun Run saw B. Lewis, 9, of Homer finish first, followed by A. Ramsey, 10, of Minden, in second, and W. Harrell, 10, of Sibley, in third.
In the 5K race, Nathan Vogel, 33, of Campti placed first. Owen Hanchel, 15, of Ruston finished second, and Bronsen Pullig, 13, of Haughton took third.
The 10K division was led by Gary Wilson, 42, of Bossier City. Reece Weaver, 16, of Choudrant placed second, and Cara Sims, 18, of Marshall finished third.
Proceeds from the event benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which provides treatment for children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases without charging families for care.
