by Amber McDown

The Minden St. Jude Chili Cook-off set a new record Saturday, with 36 teams competing and raising $14,139—surpassing their goal by $4,000.

“That’s $4,000 over our goal and the most we’ve ever raised,” said Randy Stevenson.

With a record number of teams, judges evaluated entries across three tables, selecting the top five from each for final consideration.

In the Best in Show category, Cast Iron Chili took first place, followed by Chili Dawgs in second and the Lumberjacks in third.

For People’s Choice, Chili of the Ages claimed the top spot, with Red Hot Chili Peppers in second and Inferno Aviators in third.

The overall 2025 Chili Champ title went to Chili Man Chili Man, with Recycled Chili finishing second and Dixie Overland Construction taking third.

The 50th Annual Minden St. Jude Auction, benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, continues through Sunday night. It can be watched live at the Minden Civic Center, on Optimum Channel 11, or listened to on KASO/KBEF radio. A livestream is available at mindenstjude.com.
