Minden Tennis & Aquatic Club swim team posts strong performances in Shreveport meet

The Minden Tennis & Aquatic Club Stingrays competed against the Elks Swim Team and East Ridge Country Club on Wednesday at the Elks Lodge in Shreveport, earning a third-place finish in the three-team meet.

It was the team’s first meet of the summer.

The Elks Swim Team claimed first place with 921 points, followed by East Ridge Country Club with 466 points. MTAC finished with 427 points.

Leading the way for the Stingrays were several standout performers. Maddox Snider, 13, earned top overall honors for MTAC with 29 points. Sawyer Pitman, 15, followed with 24 points, while Dane Weaver, 14, scored 21.5 points. Sawyer Burson, 14, added 20 points, and Savannah Gary, 6, contributed 18.5 points.

In the 6-and-under girls division, Savannah Gary posted strong swims with a time of 41.06 in the 25 freestyle and 58.67 in the 25 backstroke. Josh Allen led the 6-and-under boys with times of 1:28.21 in the 25 freestyle and 3:13.11 in the 25 backstroke.

For the 7-8 girls, Madeline Fussell turned in a 29.35 in the 25 freestyle and 45.97 in the 25 breaststroke, while Posey Belle Boyd recorded a 30.79 in the freestyle event. Larkyn James paced the 7-8 boys with a 27.21 in the 25 freestyle. Sutton Perryman swam a 1:00.22 in the 50 freestyle, and Cash Smith posted a 29.14 in the 25 backstroke.

Vivienne Fussell led the 9-10 girls division with a 19.70 in the 25 freestyle and a 23.42 in the 25 backstroke. Gracelyn Pitman finished the 50 freestyle in 58.22, while Channing Simmons recorded a 30.48 in the 25 breaststroke.

Brooks Boyd highlighted the 9-10 boys division with times of 19.15 in the 25 freestyle, 48.03 in the 50 freestyle, and 25.15 in the 25 butterfly. Bronx Ulich swam a 29.12 in the 25 backstroke, and Dawson Gish posted a 33.84 in the 25 breaststroke.

In the 11-12 girls division, Cora Rodgers recorded times of 37.75 in the 50 freestyle and 1:34.77 in the 100 freestyle. Nella Snider swam a 49.53 in the 50 backstroke, Genevieve Dennin finished the 50 breaststroke in 1:01.70, and Brooklyn Sunderland posted a 1:04.32 in the 50 butterfly.

Christian Lemoine led the 11-12 boys with times of 38.92 in the 50 freestyle, 54.80 in the 50 butterfly, and 1:50.32 in the 100 individual medley. Corbin Toland recorded a 54.82 in the 50 breaststroke and 51.43 in the 50 backstroke, while Louie Kourvelas swam a 2:01.55 in the 100 freestyle.

Lexi Barnett paced the 13-18 girls with a 36.50 in the 50 freestyle, 1:20.08 in the 100 freestyle, and 1:36.95 in the 100 individual medley. Emma Kratzer posted times of 46.04 in the 50 backstroke and 43.35 in the 50 breaststroke, while Ella Stahl finished the 50 breaststroke in 1:02.09.

The 13-18 boys division featured several top performances, including Maddox Snider’s 36.27 in the 50 breaststroke and 1:10.40 in the 100 individual medley. Sawyer Pitman swam a 28.12 in the 50 freestyle, 33.24 in the 50 backstroke, and 32.30 in the 50 butterfly. Dane Weaver added a 1:19.30 in the 100 freestyle.

Other Stingrays also made a big splash and showed tremendous effort in the pool. Titus Waller, Stella Perryman, Kiara Thomas, Everly Kate McGill, Cohen Toland, Grant Dennin, and Camden Grubbs all contributed with impressive swims and displayed determination and sportsmanship that make the Stingrays proud. Their dedication and enthusiasm were on full display, and the coaches are excited to see what these rising stars will accomplish in upcoming meets.
