Community members, business leaders, and local officials gathered Monday at Geaux Fresh for a meet and greet with Dr. John Fleming, the kickoff event in the Greater Minden Chamber’s Minden Votes 2026 election series.
Held upstairs at the restaurant during the lunch hour, the program gave attendees an opportunity to visit informally with Fleming before he delivered brief remarks to the crowd. Chamber officials described the gathering as well attended, with residents turning out to hear from the statewide elected official and U.S. Senate candidate.
Fleming, a Republican, has served as Louisiana State Treasurer since 2024. His term in that office runs through January 10, 2028.
The Minden Votes 2026 series is a new initiative by the chamber intended to provide voters with opportunities to meet candidates, attend forums, and stay informed on issues affecting Webster Parish and the surrounding region ahead of upcoming elections.
Greater Minden Chamber President Stephanie Barnette said the organization was pleased with both Fleming’s participation and the response from the public.
“We appreciate Dr. Fleming taking the time to be with us and engage with our community,” Barnette said. “It was a great turnout, and we’re excited to continue hosting opportunities like this through our Minden Votes 2026 series to keep our members and community informed and involved.”
Chamber officials said additional meet and greets, forums, coffee chats, and similar events are planned throughout the year as part of the voter information series. The primaries for the U.S. Senate will be held on Saturday, May 16, with the general election on November 3, 2026.
