Spaces are still available for parade entries

The 39th annual MLK/Black History Parade is scheduled for Friday, February 21, at 11AM in downtown Minden as part of the city’s ongoing Martin Luther King Jr. celebration activities.

Organized by the MLK Celebration Committee, the parade is expected to draw community groups, schools, churches and organizations to honor the legacy of Dr. King while celebrating Black history and culture. Organizers said spaces are still available for parade entries.

Each entry must display a sign or banner identifying the group for judging purposes. Awards will be presented for first, second and third place in several categories, including Best Band Performance, Best Decorated Float, Best Decorated Car and Most Spirited Entry.

Entry forms must be received by Saturday, February 14, 2026, by 6PM.

Organizers said the parade serves as a visible expression of unity and pride, continuing the spirit of the 39th annual MLK celebration held under the theme “Lift every voice. Live every dream.”
