Events kick off with steak cook-off and conclude with first responders appreciation
From classic automobiles to steaks to emergency helicopters, a plethora of community events are taking place in the Minden area over the next several days, starting this evening and running through Tuesday night.
Main Street Steak Cook-Off – Friday, Sept. 7, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Pearl Street. Up to 30 teams of two cooks apiece compete for a total of $2,600 in payouts. Event features Shreveport-based band ReMix, steak dinner by Hue Wood for those with pre-sold tickets, and a custom-made grill raffle.
Vintage Car Club of Minden 11th Annual Car Show and Shine – free registration running 7-10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, event runs until 2 p.m. at the Minden Civic Center Parking Lot. Features food vendors, a poker run, live music provided by DJ Parker, and a performance of the Star-Spangled Banner by local artist Angela Willis. All makes, years, and models accepted.
Dorcheat Historical Association Museum fundraiser gala – Monday, Sept. 10, doors open at 5:30 p.m. Silent auction of items donated by local businesses and individuals.
Minden High School JROTC 9/11 program – 9 a.m. on the southwest end zone of the MHS football field Tuesday, Sept. 11. Guest speaker will be Minden Mayor Tommy Davis. Minden and Webster Parish first responders to be recognized.
Greater Minden Chamber 4th Annual First Responder Appreciation Event – Tuesday, Sept. 11, 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Minden Recreation Center Soccer fields. Visit with and express appreciation to local and state first responders. The night includes emergency vehicles to explore including a helicopter, as well as carnival games, face painting, vendor booths, bounce houses, music, food and drinks, and a closing fireworks show.
