The deadline for registering to host a block party as a part of the Annual National Night Out is three weeks away.
Those interested in hosting one of the city’s many parties must register by 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6. The event will take place throughout the city, Tuesday, Oct. 10 from 6 until 9 p.m.
Neighborhoods citywide are invited to join thousands of communities nationwide for the annual crime and drug prevention event and “Give Neighborhood Crime and Drugs a Going Away Party.”
“National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participate in, local anticrime efforts: strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back,” District B Councilwoman Fayrine Kennon Gilbert said.
Those interested in hosting a block party can register at City Hall or call 377-2144. A registration form may also be printed via the city’s website www.mindenusa.com.
