Shirley Byrd’s art show will be opening on March 21st at City Art Works, located at 701 Main St, from 5 to 7 PM.
Shirley is originally from Zwolle, LA, and moved to Minden in 1975. She is married to Chuck Byrd and has two children and five granddaughters. She was introduced to oil painting by her dad as a child and just kept going. Working for Webster Parish for 30 years and raising a family kept her busy. She studied advertising and commercial art at Commercial College. After retiring, her goal was to paint more, and it is obvious she has. She enjoys working with oils, pastels, and acrylics.
